day 14

today was the last day on the bike. im really behind schedule so im meeting my uncle in sioux falls today. i wasnt real sure about a good bike route from sioux city to sioux falls so im taking the bus.

rode to the bus station this morning to find that i had to box my bike. i even called greyhound about this and they didnt mention it. so i rode down the street to a bike shop luckily only 6 blocks away. they gave me a box and tools to use. had to disassemble most of my bike to fit it in the box. finally got it all packed up then realized i had to move 25 pounds of equipment...all in seperate bags and a 5' x 3' box down to the bus stop.

i ended up dragging it 3 blocks which was loud and awkward. a nice lady stopped and gave me a ride. what a sweetheart. her husband is a cyclist so she felt for me?

the bus station attendant was so pleased that he didnt charge me the 15 dollar extra luggage fee.

day 12

bagoosh.

rode into the rain this morning and that lasted about 30 miles. really cold today. hope i dont get sick. an old man in mondamin where i had lunch told me if the rain is in my face...i should pedal backwards. what a jerk.

rain quit around onawa where i had planned on staying. met a guy who rides in town who said i should just ride the 60 mi into sioux city and stay at this hotel for truckers that is only 25/night.

i decided to do it. did 60 mi in 3.5 hours thanks to flat roads and a back wind. did 85 miles today and am staying in this wierd trucker hotel that looks like a 200 foot long mobile home along highway 29.

wrists hurt from the bumps and my chest is ice cold from the weather. should cross into south dakota tomorrow to head up into sioux falls to meet my uncle harley.

woke up to beautiful blue skies and rode right into a thunderstorm. going to rain all day. the english cape is proving to be far superior to a rain suit.

60 mi to sioux city...might as well try and make it. im gonna be wet regardless.
